Household appliances – does it have to be from IKEA?

Short answer: it doesn't have to.
You can also purchase appliances outside of IKEA and successfully install them in a METOD kitchen. However, it's worth considering IKEA appliances because:

• Well-known brands (Electrolux, Whirlpool, Bosch),

• 5-year warranty (often longer than the market standard),

• Full compatibility with the METOD system,

• Lower assembly costs if the assembly is performed by IKEA and the equipment is purchased from them.

Non-IKEA household appliances – what to watch out for?

Devices not offered by IKEA can usually be installed, but sometimes require minor modifications to the housing or accessories.
If you want maximum simplicity and fit, IKEA hardware will be the easiest to install.

Dishwasher

For peace of mind during installation, a dishwasher from IKEA is often recommended.
If you choose a different model, make sure that:

• has a sliding hinge (for a long front of 80 cm),

• If you don't have such a hinge, you can use the BEHJÄLPLIG adapter (approx. PLN 399), which allows you to install a full-size IKEA front.

Hood

The choice of form (chimney, under-cabinet, ceiling, island, countertop, integrated with the hob) depends on the layout and aesthetics.
If the hood is to be hidden in a cabinet , the easiest way is to choose a model from the IKEA range - it is dimensionally compatible with METOD.

For a non-IKEA hood, check:

• width and depth for the METOD body ,

• possibility of attaching the front ,

• route and space for the discharge pipe .

Built-in refrigerator

To avoid problems:

• choose sliding hinges (not "door-on-door"),

• verify the dimensions for the body (e.g. 60×200 or 60×220 cm),

• provide ventilation : ~5 cm at the back, ≥2 cm at the top and ventilation grilles at the bottom/top of the body.

Oven, hob, sink, tap

Most ovens and hobs have standard dimensions (60/80 cm) and fit METOD without adapters.
With a countertop from an external contractor, you can choose any sink and faucet—the holes will be cut according to your specifications. Remember, an undermount sink requires a suitable countertop material (e.g., stone, composite).

Practical conclusions

• An IKEA dishwasher often means fewer complications with long fronts.

• The hood adapted to METOD facilitates clean installation .

• Built-in refrigerators look consistent , but they tend to be less spacious - it's worth checking the capacity before purchasing.

• A non-IKEA sink/faucet gives you more freedom in choosing function and design.
