Do IKEA Metod fronts fit Faktum?

If you're planning to update your kitchen, it's crucial to know which IKEA system your cabinets are based on. A common question is: will IKEA Metod fronts fit Faktum? The short answer is: no, they don't.

In this article, we explain why this is so and how to identify, step by step, which system you have in your kitchen.

Why are the Metod and Faktum fronts not compatible?

The Metod (introduced in 2013) and Faktum (sold between 2000 and 2013) systems differ in design. This means that:

• have different dimensions of bodies and fronts,
• mounting holes are arranged differently,
• they use different hinges and mounting mechanisms.

Therefore, fronts that fit Methods will not fit Faktum – and vice versa.

How to distinguish between the two systems?

1. Height of the plinth

   Method: 8 cm
   Factum: 16 cm
   This is the fastest way to recognize the system.

2. Body height

   Methods – heights: 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1400, 2000, 2200 mm
   Faktum – heights: 348, 572, 700, 924, 1248, 1948, 2172 mm
   The method is based on full hundreds, the Faktum has irregular heights.

3. Body width

   Methods: 200, 300, 400, 600, 800 mm
   Faktum: 198, 298, 398, 498, 598, 798 mm
   Faktum is always 2 mm narrower than the nearest "hundred".

4. Mounting holes

   Method: 2 rows of holes, the first at a distance of 17 mm from the edge
   Faktum: 1 row of holes, the first at a distance of 25 mm from the edge

5. Drawers – quantity and color

   Method: up to 8 drawers, white sides
   Faktum: up to 5 drawers, silver/gray sides
