IKEA METOD Fronts - Dimensions, Models, and Replacement 2026

METOD is IKEA's current kitchen system – sold since 2014, available in stores. If you bought an IKEA kitchen after 2014, you almost certainly have METOD. This is good news: there are replacement fronts in the IKEA catalog, so you don't need to look to other manufacturers – unless you want a color outside of IKEA's palette, a custom size, or a specific design that IKEA doesn't offer.

In this article, you will find a complete list of current METOD front models in the IKEA catalog, standard dimensions (60×80, 60×100, 60×140 cm and others), three replacement paths (IKEA / custom-made at ogony.pl / premium competitors) and a comparison of what can and cannot be done at IKEA itself.

METOD in the IKEA kitchen system - context

METOD replaced FAKTUM in 2014. Key differences: - UTRUSTA hinge (plastic clip-on base) instead of the metal screw-in base from FAKTUM - Different front dimensions - METOD has doors 60×80, 60×100, 60×140 cm; FAKTUM had 60×70, 60×92, 60×125 cm - Different drawer heights - METOD: 10/20/40 cm, FAKTUM: 13/25/38 cm - Carcase in new widths - primarily 40, 60, 80 cm, plus 90 cm in some corner cabinets

METOD fronts do not fit FAKTUM carcases and vice versa. The standard drilling for hinges is the same (ø 35 mm depth 13 mm, spacing 96 mm), but the hinge base itself is different – the UTRUSTA clip requires special mounting in the METOD carcase. Current METOD front models in the IKEA catalog

This is not a complete list of all METOD designs IKEA has ever had – only the most common ones that customers are replacing in 2026.

At IKEA, you will find a full table of dimensions for each of these models on the product page. Some designs have limited sizes (e.g., Voxtorp only in 4 heights), others are available in the full range.

Standard METOD front dimensions

METOD dimensions are standardized – each design has the same set of sizes (with minor exceptions).

The standard drilling for hinges is ø 35 mm to a depth of 13 mm, 96 mm from the edge – exactly the same furniture standard across Europe. Any custom-sized front will fit the UTRUSTA hinge if it has the correct drillings.

Non-standard METOD dimensions (angled, recessed, island under a 90 cm countertop, small kitchen where a 60 cm cabinet doesn't fit) require a custom manufacturer – IKEA will not do this. We do this at ogony.pl as standard.

Three paths for replacing METOD fronts

Each makes sense in a different scenario.

Path 1 - IKEA (catalog replacements)

The simplest way. You go to the store, choose Veddinge / Bodbyn / Ringhult or another available model in your preferred color, buy individual fronts or a complete set. IKEA prices are typically below market average.

When it works: kitchen in full standard METOD dimensions, model and color from the current IKEA catalog, no requirements outside the IKEA palette.

When it doesn't work: you want a color outside the IKEA catalog (Farrow & Ball, NCS, RAL custom), you have a non-standard dimension (e.g., a 47 cm recess, an angle under the stairs), you want a Linea, Vienna, or glazed display type design – IKEA does not have these.

Path 2 - ogony.pl (custom-made)

We make METOD fronts to any dimension in three materials: lacquer (Farrow & Ball, NCS, RAL included in price), natural veneer (oak, walnut, Muskato Root and others), and birch plywood. Production time is 7 weeks from payment confirmation.

When it works: non-standard color (Hague Blue, All White, any RAL), unusual dimension (angled, recess, island), non-IKEA design (Linea, Vienna, Display cabinet), kitchen in premium material (Silver Root veneer, birch plywood).

When it doesn't work: if you only want a specific IKEA design one-to-one (e.g., exactly Bodbyn with a chamfer) - we have our own designs, we do not reproduce IKEA designs.

Path 3 - premium competition (Superfront, Reform)

These companies specialize in designer fronts for IKEA. Premium price (several times higher than mid-range manufacturers), designer patterns from architectural lookbooks, delivery to Poland within 4-7 weeks.

When it works: you want a specific design from the Superfront/Reform catalog (e.g., a specific framed brass front) and you have the budget for a fully premium kitchen.

When it doesn't work: budget below PLN 15,000 for fronts, need for quick execution, non-standard dimensions outside the Superfront/Reform catalog.

What exactly you order at ogony.pl as a METOD replacement

Four decisions you need to make before ordering:

1. Dimension - precise to the millimeter. The METOD standard is in the table above, but your front might have been unusual (angled, low cabinet, island).
2. Material - lacquer, natural veneer, or birch plywood. Lacquer accounts for 80% of our METOD orders because it offers full color flexibility.
3. Front design - Smooth (simplest), Linea (thin 12 mm frame), Rytm (vertical fluting), Pasmo (delicate groove), Vienna (classic framed in Bodbyn style), Display (with glass), Milled Handle, Round, Grip.

The most common replacement for white Veddinge? Smooth front in semi-matte lacquer, All White from Farrow & Ball or NCS S 0500-N. The most common replacement for cream Bodbyn? Do ogony.pl fronts fit IKEA METOD carcases? Yes. The UTRUSTA hinge drilling standard is universal (ø 35 mm depth 13 mm, spacing 96 mm). We drill for METOD hinges as standard – the front mounts exactly like an original IKEA one.

Can I buy only one front at IKEA instead of a whole set? Yes – IKEA sells fronts individually. This is a good solution if you need to replace 1-3 damaged doors. Check in advance if the model is still in the catalog – IKEA periodically discontinues designs.

What METOD dimensions are not available at IKEA? IKEA only has standard dimensions: widths 40, 60, 80 cm and heights 80, 100, 140 cm. Non-standard sizes (e.g., width 47 cm, height 65 cm under an angle, island side panel 90 cm) require a custom manufacturer.

Is the UTRUSTA hinge the same for all METOD models? Yes – UTRUSTA is one universal hinge for the entire METOD system. Regardless of whether you have Veddinge, Bodbyn, or Sinarp, the hinge is the same.

Does double-sided lacquer make sense in a METOD kitchen? Usually not. Double-sided lacquer makes sense for fronts visible from both sides – glass doors, island panels, open shelves. Standard kitchen cabinet doors are only visible from the front, so the back (white Egger MDF) is sufficient. Double-sided incurs a 20% surcharge.

How much does a METOD front sample cost? Front sample, delivery 12 working days. The price is deducted from the value of the production order – when ordering, you effectively get the sample for free. This is the safest way to check the color and material before a large order.

What is the lead time for an order at ogony.pl? 7 weeks production from payment confirmation. Plus 1-2 weeks for measurement, sample, and customer decision. Realistically from the first email to finished fronts – 7-9 weeks.
